Vintage absinthe reproduction
Otto Legler absinthe is a true reproduction of the once famous Legler-Pernod absinthe, produced in Couvet and Pontarlier before the 1915 ban.
Otto Legler married Caroline Pernod, daughter of Edouard, and set up a distillery in Couvet. He added his wife’s name to his own and immediatelly benefited from its reputation. This was the maison Legler-Pernod.
The faithful reproduction of the Legler-Pernod brand would be unthinkable without securing the originally sealed, intact circa 1900-1910 Legler-Pernod vintage bottle.
Historical research, mastering the absinthe distillation, chemical analysis of the vintage absinthe and a numerous distiled samples , all contributed to the recreation of the Legler-Pernod absinthe. And finally, sellecting the best sources of spirit and botanicals was also very important to closely match the original that would otherwise be forgotten for so many years to come,if not forever.
Otto Legler absinthe contains the same properties found in the vintage Legler-Pernod absinthe. This includes the same quantities of properly cultivated Grand Wormwood, making the same thujone level as the original used to have, and other botanicals used in the distillation of the pre-banned Legler-Pernod absinthe.Petite Wormwood among other herbs, is reserved for coloring.
Finally, after months of research and development, we are proud to present Otto Legler, the genuine Belle Époque absinthe, that will offer the connoisseur the same experience as the Legler-Pernod absinthe before the French ban of 1915.
